Circle of Security for Families from Refugee Backgrounds

July 2016 – June 2017,  July 2017 – June 2018

Circle of Security is an early intervention program to improve the care of high-risk toddlers and pre-schoolers and assist their primary caregivers. It is particularly useful for people who have experienced trauma. It is a series of eight sessions for groups of parents and gives intensive support to parents and children. In Australia, it had not previously been used with refugee families. The Broadley Trust funded Lutheran Community Care to provide the program for families in the Playford and Salisbury areas of Adelaide from Burundian, Sudanese and Afghan backgrounds.
